ITINERARY INSTRUCTIONS: Click the arrow down symbol to the right of each itinerary item in the list below to expand and collapse each section. This will allow you to view the Directions, Websites, Menus, Tickets, etc. Feel free to venture out on your own to enjoy other venues that are not part of the itinerary. Pay attention to the text in red that provides instructions for each item in the list below. Please note that you are responsible for navigating throughout this trip. There is no tour guide. If marked OPTIONAL, it is not part of the official itinerary. If you need tech support, email FAMTrippers@gmail.com. IMPORTANT: Arrive at each event 10 minutes early so we can wait for everyone at the entrance. We will not wait for those that are late. Look for those with FAMTrippers TShirts or Buttons.
DAY 1: HOUSTON, TXSATURDAY 6/17/2023
12:00 PM: Black Wall Street Festival
Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. Juneteenth Black Wall Street Festival is 100% FREE. The Juneteenth Event will include over 30 Black Business owners, Food, Music, Games, a job fair, and so much more. Opportunity to support black-owned businesses so come prepared to shop, eat, drink and network! Located at the Big Brother Big Sister Building at 1003 Washington Ave, Houston, TX 77002 their hours are from 12-4PM. Wear your FAMTrippers T-Shirts and/or Buttons.
03:00 PM: POST Market/Skylawn
- 3PM - POST Market: On your own Explore and Eat if you didn't eat at the Black Wall Street Festival! Click on Restaurants for all the available food court options.
- 5PM - POST Skylawn (Rooftop Park): Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. Head upstairs to the rooftop where we will reconnect and hangout. The rooftop is famous for watching the sun go down. We will also VOTE on our next FAMTrippers Destination for next year, so try to make it to the rooftop! Bring an Outdoor/Lawn Chair just in case seating is limited, or feel free to stand and walk around the rooftop park.
10:00 PM: Bar 5015
OPTIONAL: Marked optional due to safety concerns. Adults wanting to enjoy some late night Hip Hop and R&B music until 2AM (Adults Only). Walk-Ins Welcome. To guarantee your seat text 713-515-8688 to make a reservation (min 5 people). RESERVATION INSTRUCTIONS: Text your Full Name, Number in your party and the reservation date for Saturday, June 17th at 10pm for Juneteenth Celebration. Someone will call you to do a verbal confirmation. The check cannot be split, plus 18% gratuity charge.
DAY 2: HOUSTON, TXSUNDAY 6/18/2023
12:00 PM: Hermann Park & Zoo
OPTIONAL: Marked optional due to Heat Advisory & Air Quality. Meet at Hermann Park Conservancy Gift Shop at Kinder Station to catch the train and ride around Hermann Park. Feel free to get on and off the train at your leisure to enjoy the beautiful park and maybe try some paddle boating. The train also stops at the Houston Zoo. If you're going to the Zoo, you MUST purchase your Zoo Tickets within the month of June prior to coming. You cannot purchase at the gate.
03:00 PM: Downtown Aquarium
Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. We will meet here to eat and honor our fathers on FATHER'S DAY. Dinner Reservations are FREE. If you also want to enjoy the rides and aquarium, you must purchase your tickets. Make your dinner reservations for 6/18/23 at 3pm for your family prior to coming. NOTE: If purchasing tickets for rides & Aquarium do so by June 15,2023. Tickets expire after 30 days of purchase date,
08:00 PM: Phil & Dereks Jazz Lounge
Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. Live music until 11PM (Adults Only). Walk-Ins Welcome. To guarantee your seat, text Mary at 832-724-7763 to make a reservation. RESERVATION INSTRUCTIONS: Text Mary your Full Name, Number in your party and the reservation date for Sunday, June 18th at 8pm for Juneteenth Celebration. DAY 3: GALVESTON, TXMONDAY 6/19/2023
08:00 AM: The Breakfast Klub
Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. Meet at 8:00AM at the entrance of this popular black owned restaurant before heading to Galveston. Lines are typically long but moves fast so get there early. We will be served on a first come first serve basis. Wear cool comfortable clothes or modest beach attire.
12:00 PM: NIA Cultural Center
Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. PLEASE ATTEND THIS PRESENTATION. Dr. Araminta Sorrell will be giving our group a personal Juneteenth History presentation in the heart of Galveston where Juneteenth originated. $25/pp Tickets must be purchased by June 8, 2023. Located at 2017 The Strand, Galveston, TX 77550 (street parking and a lot at 22nd and Strand). Checkout the great things they are doing, and feel free to donate. They are allowing our group to use their building at no charge. We are only paying the speaker, so purchase your tickets before deadline.
03:00 PM: Fisherman's Wharf
Arrive 10 minutes early & wait at entrance. Enjoy some good seafood with fabulous waterfront views on Juneteenth. Walk-Ins Welcome. Reserve your spot prior to coming. Click on website link to book for 3PM on June 19.
05:00 PM: Pleasure Pier/Beach
OPTIONAL: Marked Optional due to Heat Advisory & Air Quality. Enjoy the Pleasure Pier rides and/or hangout on the Beach and relax for the remainder of the evening. Feel Free to bring Outdoor/Lawn Chairs. We will have music for Line Dancing (no instructor) and Karaoke (register) on the beach! Pleasure Pier tickets range from $8-$28 and can be purchased at the entrance. The Beach is FREE; only pay for parking.
